I haven't updated in months...

So...yeah...

In 2008...I graduated from college, bought a car, bought a house, had another kid.

2009 already sucks. Joe has 2 months left before Circuit City closes their doors. It sucks..but we're trying to be positive about it. Instead of getting my computer and our new laminate floors, we're going to stick that cash in the bank. I'm still going to get my new refrigerator, stove, and our privacy fence. We're just going to have my cousin's company come in and clean our carpets.

Joe is going to take this opportunity to go back to school, I think. He needs to decide what he wants to do first, though.

He's also going to be a stay at home dad while he's on unemployment. He could use the break.

I'm also in the market for a new job. We're not sure how much longer the firm is going to last, so I've already started putting in applications elsewhere. I might have to talk to my aunt and see if she's connected anywhere that can get me a job.

So that's it for now...

So Jack hooked me up with this awesome new computer yesterday!

I now have an Acer laptop with 3 gigs of ram, 160 gig hard drive, dvd burner, built in web cam, surround sound, and a bunch of other nifty stuff.

Its quite a bit heavier than my older computer, but oh well.

I gave my Gateway to Joe. He thought he was getting this one, but Jack gave it to me because I'm about to graduate from JALC, so this is my "yay for hard work" present. Hells yeah. I like it alot.

And Joe really doesn't have anything to bitch about. He still got a free computer out of the deal. It isn't like he's ever online anyway. The Acer is so much better for computer games. I haven't played the Sims 2 on it yet, but I'm going to here in the very near future...probably after I get done writing this as a matter of fact.

Adam was jealous. He wanted this computer and he wanted Jack to give Joe the other one (it had just about the same specs as the Gateway). Jack kept the other Acer for himself though. After I get it online and hooked up with anti-virus and anti-spyware and put his games on it, he's going to take it over the road with him.

This one has issues with the battery and the surround sound. Which is no biggie. They thought it didn't have sound at all. I switched the default from the surround sound to normal speaker, and now it works. The battery is screwed up though. If I don't have it plugged in, it randomly shuts off.

So yeah..that's it for now.

So..I'm sitting here, watching tv, and a commercial comes on for a show called "High School Reunion". It says that this is an original show, made just for the TV Land network.

Strange thing is, I remember a show exactly like this one, with the same title and everything, that came on the WB a few years ago. At least I'm pretty sure it was the WB.

Does anyone else remember that show?

And also....
I'm going to Chicago for the first time at the beginning of April.
Work Drama!!

TQC, how do you deal with drama at work?

I've been interning at a law firm. I'm about half way through with completing all of my hours. I started in November and was scheduled to be done at the end of March, beginning of April.

Last Thursday, I was asked about staying on full time after I graduate (part time until then). I said hell yeah. I love how relaxed the environment is, and it means no job hunting in May.

It turns out, one of the works keeps dropping the ball on a lot of stuff. We file applications for state aid. She only gets out a couple a month when she should be getting out 3-4 times that amount.

The wires keep getting crossed. Appointments that she schedules with clients don't always make it onto the schedule. Legal paperwork that needs drawn up doesn't get given to the person who does that until an hour or two before she needs it...I could go on.

They want to "lighten" her work load and make me the new public benefits specialist...which I'm all for. As an intern, I only make minimum wage. As a regular employee, I'll make double that.

This all came about last week, the day before they approached me about it. Until I speak with the boss man and we have a few meetings, this is all being kept very quiet.

When it all comes out into the open, shit is going to hit the fan. I know that the person I'm "lightening" the load for is going to be extremely pissed at me. I don't know how her assistant is going to react, but I'm assuming it is going to be bad as well.

Summary: I'm taking over most of the work for another employee. She's going to view it as me stealing her job..she's going to be super pissed and create a ton of work drama..

So..how do I deal with this? There's no way in hell I can turn the job down. Not for nearly $15 an hour. It isn't my fault she's dropping the ball, but I know she's going to treat me like it is. grr..

And in case you don't care about that..

Winter storm or not, I'm going to a Seether/3 Days Grace/Breaking Benjamin concert on Thursday. Has anyone seen any of these bands live? How was it?
When was the last time you went to a concert? Who did you see?

More fun from the video store...

As I said before, I work at a tiny video store. New rentals are $3 for 1 night except for Saturdays, when they become 2 day rentals. We also have red sticker movies that are $3 a piece for for 1 night or $5 for 3 nights if you rent 3 of them. Then we have yellow sticker and VHS movies for $1 a night..

Please don't bitch at me about rental prices and rental times. We keep rental times short because we are a tiny store. We get very few copies of popular movies and the boss doesn't think it is fair to rent those out for 2 nights and deny the other customers the ability to rent those movies. I don't care if you don't like it. Those are the rules. If you don't like it, go somewhere else!! I still get paid and I don't have to put up with your bullshit!

As I explained earlier, we have red sticker rentals that are 3 movies for $5 for 3 nights.
A couple of days ago a woman came in and returned 3 red sticker rentals. They were 4 days late. I asked if she'd like to pay the late fee and this is what I got:

L - Late fee woman
M - Me, trying to enjoy Animal Crossing

M - Would you like to take care of your fee now?
L - No, I don't think it is fair! I'm going to talk to your boss about it!
M - *this should be fun* Why is that?
L - My kids were either told that the movies are for 5 nights or they read the sign wrong. I
shouldn't have to pay anything!
M - Well, we don't tell a person they can keep movies for a certain amount of days. We tell the
person the date the movies are due. In this case, whoever rented the movies to your kids
told them July 10th, not however many days from now.
L - Well it still isn't fair and I don't want to pay it!
M - Let's look at it this way. The movies are 4 days over due. You had them the original 3
days rental time, plus 4 more days. Even if what you are saying is true, and they were 5
day rentals, the movies would still be 2 days overdue and you would have a late fee!

After I said that she gave me the "go to hell and die look" and stormed out all huffy. I told my boss what happened when she came in and she just laughed and said "too bad". Hahaha

We keep our drop box locked while we're open. The boss wants people to come inside to return them. It makes it easier for us to get the movies back on the shelf. Everyone who rents here knows this. Why do I have people constantly trying to put them in the drop box!?! They'll stand out there and yank on the damn thing for a good 30 seconds to a minute before they realize it won't open. Then they'll come inside and get all pissed at me because it is locked. I explain the reason every single time, but it never fails. The next time they try to return something, they'll try to put it in the box as if some how, this time it will magically open.

I understand our movies are organized a bit funny. We have New Releases, Red Sticker, Classics/Yellow Sticker, and VHS.

No, we don't have a Christian section. I'm sorry, I can't point you to your Christian themed movies. They are mixed in alphabetically with all the other ones. If you don't know the title of what you're looking for, I can't help you.

Please don't come up to the counter and just demand a movie. That's not how it works. Take your happy ass up and down the aisles and LOOK for the movie you want. You bring me the case and money and I give you the movie. If you've looked and honestly can't find the movie you're looking for, I'll be happy to look it up in the computer and if we have it, pull it for you. No problem.

Last night I was looking up some random VHS for a customer and this teenage girl comes in. She sees me helping this other customer, so instead of looking for her movie, she just demands that I look it up and get it for her. My response? I tell her where to look and left it at that. If she wouldn't have been so demanding and condescending about it, I might have been more inclined to help. Whoops. I think I suddenly forgot how to look up movies. Oh well!

I know children can be a handful, especially if they haven't napped. The thing is, if you tell your child they can't have a movie because they aren't listening, stick to it! Don't start to back out of our parking lot, change your mind and come back in. Don't come back in and get the movie. What kind of example are you setting!? Hell, I wish my parents caved that easily. She's learning at an early age that mommy will roll over in 2 seconds. Way to go!!!

Also on the topic of kids: I am not getting paid to babysit. If your child goes running through the store, ripping dvds off the shelves, don't look at me like you expect me to clean up after your demon spawn. It isn't difficult to keep your child in line, I suggest you do so. I would be horrified if my child tried to act like that.

Don't you dare demand that I change the tv channel. Don't you dare try to reach over the counter and grab my remote. I will stab your hand with my pen. I don't give a flying fuck if you don't like whatever random, non offensive show I'm watching. I'm watching it, not you. If you want to watch tv so bad, go home!

We close at 10:00 Sunday-Thursday and 11:00 Friday and Saturday. Be happy we're open that late. The video store down the street closes at 8:00. Don't waltz in here at 10:15 on a Monday and expect me to let you get a movie. 90% of the lights are off, including our open sign. Don't get pissy at me when I ask you to leae. You're the dumbasses that walked into a dark store. I might have let you quickly grab a movie while I finished up my paperwork and left a note for my co-worker to put it in the system the next day when she opened, but your attitude squashed that option. Your need to bitch and bad mouth me under your breath to your friends pissed me off. Yes there are still a few lights on. I need to be able to see so I can finish my work. No, you aren't getting a movie. Go away!!

Gah...at first this job was so easy and I rarely had a sucky customer. Now it seems I have a few on each shift. Oh well...

After being out of the customer service industry since September, I finally got a job at a tiny, independently owned video store in May. We're not a busy video store and it is a very laid back environment. Hell, I get paid to watch television and play my Nintendo DS while I occasionally rent out some movies and video games. I couldn't have asked for a better job.

That being said, I really don't have any rules to follow. As long as I'm not a complete asshole and don't hide from the customers, I can pretty much do whatever I want.

To Every Single Customer I had in the 6 hours I worked today:

No, we don't have any copies of Shooter in. They are due back tomorrow. No, I'm not lying to you. We only received six copies to start with and they were all rented out yesterday. Why yes you see the cases on the shelf behind me, but no there aren't any movies in them. Yes, I'm sure. Would you like me to reserve a copy for you? No? Then don't bitch when you don't get one Monday either.

- No love,
- Poor Video Store Slave

I'll have to post later about the douche bag with a foot fetish that keeps calling me and the horrible parents that have no concept of child discipline.

Are you an impatient person?

I think I am. I hate waiting on things. I bought an MP3 player off of Circuitcity.com.

clicky clicky

I know its not the CC website, but I couldn't get it to work. I have to wait for my MP3 player to ship from 2 freaking towns away.

My town----------village------------Town where my MP3 player is located.

Another funny thing about it is, my husband works in said warehouse. Yup. He works on the other side of the warehouse, but he still works there. When I told him where it was shipping from he laughed at me. He said Monday he'd go talk to the girls in Ecom and see if they'd mailed it yet and if not, would they go ahead and do it, if not let him have it.

I'm going nuts. I think its sooo stupid that I have to wait for it to be mailed. The closest store is 53 miles away, so that's why I didn't go to the store to get it. yeesh.

Is anyone else impatient like this?

So..this is what happend last time,
http://community.livejournal.com/bad_service/850452.html#cutid1

The woman I spoke to on July 17th said that the $60 NSF fees were going to be credited back to my account that day, even though when she called they were on next day business. Stupid me, I didn't check the next day to make sure they were back, I just took her word for it.

Cut to this past Monday. I get a letter in the mail saying that we owe the bank a shitload of money because we had things bounce. WTF? I keep a very close eye on my check register. After all my bills were paid, I still should have had $155 in the bank. I checked the balance at an ATM on the 18th and the balance it showed matched what I had. I failed to realize that was the balance after everything was said and done and I didn't notice that my car insurance hadn't went through yet.

When I pay my bills every two weeks, I right those down first. Whatever I have due in the two weeks before the next pay check gets taken out first that way I know what I have left.

Anywho..when I checked the balance, my $90 car insurance payment hadn't cleared yet. I had $155 but I should have had $215, but I was too stupid to realize it. So that's bad on my part.

Anyways..Monday after my doctor appointment, me and the hubby went to the bank. He took $250 out of his savings account to cover everything and leave us with like, $30 in the bank until Wednesday. Today he goes to put his check in, and they tell him that its going to cost him another $150 to get us caught up again. WTF? They gave him a print out for everything from the 17th through today.

I was going through it and comparing it to my check register to figure out where I had screwed up. I was freaking out because I thought I had cost us $400 bucks that we just didn't have. I just started a part time job and I don't get paid until next week. The first thing on the page is the refund for the checks that they charged us for. Which makes sense. They told me that they were going to take care of it on the next business day on Friday, which makes that Monday. After I saw that, I started looking for the $60. Nope. Not there. Even if they didn't credit it back Monday like they said they were going to, it would have showed up on the 18th. Nope. Not there.

So..hmm..lemme lay it out.

Existing balance - 50
Deposit 600
bills and various things in two weeks - 457
left over - $53

But since they didn't credit the $60 back, that caused a chain reaction screwing up everything. As soon as I realized what had happened, I called the bank. Just as my luck would have it, the woman had left for the day. They transferred me to her voicemail and I left her a message. She's sposed to call me in the morning. If I don't here from her first thing, there is going to be hell to pay. I'm pissed off enough as it is. I was put through hell for the past few days.

We are definately switching banks now. I know I should have checked first thing Tuesday morning. I thought everything was going to be ok after all of that. The Carterville branch kissed my ass to get me to not leave after I contacted them to have them resolve our issue. Now because the Marion Branch manager is a complete douch bag, I have to find a new bank.

Joe and I have our checking and savings accounts through Old National Bank. We chose that bank because they had one in the town that my husband used to work in and they have one in the town that he works in now. Usually we don't have a problem..that was until last month at least.

We moved into our new place in March. The week that we moved my hubby and I went to the bank and did a change of address on all of our accounts. That went through without a problem. We've been receiving all of our statements like we should be.

On June 19th I had my husband stop and order checks on his way home from work. I told him to make sure that he got the free checks that came with our account. Last time he got checks that we had to pay for like a goof ball. I called him from the doctor's office to make sure he ordered the ones that he was supposed to and he said he ordered the ones that came with the account. I made him call the bank and make sure that he ordered the free checks. They told him that he did.

Cut to today. Almost a month later.

Joe stops by the bank to cash his paycheck and I tell him to see where are checks are. They are supposed to take between 7 and 14 days and its been almost a month. The teller looks up our account and low and behold, the checks had been sent to our old address. ERG. What's even worse is, they CHARGED us for the checks. The asshole who did the order didn't bother to double check our information or change the checks that we wanted. They just did a flat out reorder.

So now I don't know if the people who live in our old house have our checks or what. They didn't get forwarded here and they didn't get sent back to the bank. The teller asked one of the higher ups if they would refund our money if the checks got sent back and they said no. They told Joe that they were going to try to figure out who did the order and get things straightened out. They told him to go ahead and go and that they would call when they knew something.

I still haven't heard from them and they technically closed an hour ago. I'll be damned if I have to pay for the checks that they ordered when they weren't supposed to. They better call me first thing in the morning or there will be hell to pay.

Joe and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day tonight instead of the 14th. We figured it would be really busy and not worth the hassel to try and go out.

We went out for dinner. We weren't in the mood for anything "fancy", so we went to Taco John's. I'm all for a churro now and then. Plus potato oles are the shit. Taco Bell sucks ass!!!

After dinner we hightailed it to the mall. I bought Joe Call of Duty 2, Big Red One. The other day I went to the mall and got him a fuzz buster. So yea...I spent about $110. On Valentine's Day I'm going to buy some flowers and go put him in his car while he is at work. :)

After we got done at EB, we went to Kay Jeweler's for my present.

I like it. It was meant to be too. It fit without any sizing. That makes me happy. I found other rings that I like, but they weren't in my budget. :(

For Mother's Day, Joe is going to get me a birthstone ring. I need one that has 2 Alexandrite stones in it. One for him and one for Xander. If we have another kid, I'll get another ring that has mine and that baby's stones in it.

Well that's all for now. Its pretty late. I don't think I'll go to bed though. Joe is in the living room playing video games. I think I'm going to sit here and watch Law and Order SVU. I might put in one of my new movies...I dunno...lalala..talking to myself...lalalala.

So..why is it that my husband can be a caring, thoughtful, compassionate guy to any other woman except for me?

So we're out and about today paying bills, turning in applications, looking at houses. Just general Friday stuff. When he goes to make the furniture payment, he finds 2 lamps that his mom would just adore. So what does he do? He comes out to the car to get his mom and show her. Then after a few minutes he comes back out to the car to "ask" if it was ok that he bought the lamps for his mom. It wasn't like he was going to listen to what I was saying because Brian was already ringing them up. It was a done deal before he came back outside.

A few days ago I interrupted him making plans with his mom to go see a movie this weekend. Unfortunately for them, the movie they wanted to see only lasted a week in theaters. Was he going to ask me? I assume no. He wasn't even telling me about it.

We never go out anywhere. He hasn't taken me out to dinner in months. For our ruined anniversary we went to fucking Long John Silvers.

He puts no thought into anything having to do with me. If it is any other woman he'll jump at the drop of a hat to do anything for them.

When I confront him about this stuff he just tells me I'm crazy. I'm tired of being ignored and treated like crap. It makes me soooooooooooo freaking angry. He won't listen to me at all. I'm running out of ideas.
